Disney Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World

Discover the Unmatched Luxury of Disney Deluxe Resorts

Last Updated: September 2, 2026

Disney Deluxe Resorts offer some of the most convenient, immersive, and elevated accommodations at Walt Disney World® Resort. With more than 25 Disney Resort hotels and villas to choose from, deciding where to stay can feel almost as overwhelming as planning the parks themselves.

But where you stay can have a significant impact on how your Disney vacation feels.

From prime locations and exceptional dining to beautiful accommodations and exclusive access to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, Disney’s Deluxe Resort hotels offer advantages that go far beyond simply having a place to sleep.

If you’re wondering are Disney Deluxe Resorts worth it, understanding what sets them apart can help you decide whether upgrading your resort is the right choice for your family.

What Are Disney Deluxe Resorts?

Disney currently has eight hotels in its Deluxe Resort category: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Disney also offers a separate collection of Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, which provide villa-style accommodations and can be especially appealing for families or groups looking for additional space and home-like amenities.

While each resort has its own personality, location, transportation options, restaurants, and amenities, they share something important: they’re designed to offer an elevated Walt Disney World Resort experience.

And choosing among the best Disney Deluxe Resorts isn’t necessarily about determining which hotel is the most luxurious. It’s about finding the one whose location, atmosphere, amenities, and transportation options best complement the way your family wants to experience Walt Disney World.

Prime Locations and Unparalleled Convenience

One of the biggest Disney Deluxe Resort benefits is location.

Several Deluxe Resorts place you exceptionally close to one or more theme parks, which can completely change the rhythm of your vacation.

At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, for example, you can walk to Magic Kingdom Park. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa also offers a walking path to Magic Kingdom, while Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn put you within walking distance of EPCOT.

That proximity can be especially valuable for families who want to return to their resort during the afternoon for a break before heading back into the parks later.

Transportation varies by resort and can include Disney buses, boats, the Monorail, walking paths, and, at select locations, access to the Disney Skyliner transportation system. Complimentary resort transportation is a benefit of staying within the Disney Resorts Collection.

The important thing isn’t simply choosing a Deluxe Resort.

It’s choosing the right Deluxe Resort for the parks and experiences that matter most to you.

Elevated Accommodations and Resort Experiences

After a long day exploring Walt Disney World, there’s something wonderful about returning to a resort that feels like part of the vacation rather than simply somewhere to sleep.

Disney World Deluxe Resorts offer immersive theming, thoughtfully designed accommodations, beautiful common areas, feature pools, recreation, and a wider variety of dining experiences.

The experience also varies dramatically from one Deluxe Resort to another.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can experience a resort inspired by the art, architecture, and landscapes of Africa, including views of animals on the resort’s savannas.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort brings a tropical atmosphere to the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge surrounds you with architecture inspired by America’s great national park lodges.

And Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa offers one of Walt Disney World’s most elegant resort environments just across the lagoon from Magic Kingdom.

Choosing the right resort isn’t simply about finding the nicest room. It’s about deciding what kind of environment you want to come home to each day.

Club Level Can Elevate the Experience Even Further

For travelers looking for another level of service and convenience, select Disney Deluxe Resort accommodations offer Club Level access.

Club Level guests have access to a private lounge with food and beverage offerings throughout the day, which can make mornings, afternoon breaks, and evenings at the resort feel particularly convenient.

Club Level can be especially appealing to travelers who plan to spend meaningful time enjoying their resort rather than leaving early each morning and returning only to sleep.

It isn’t necessarily the right investment for every family, however.

If your vacation will have you in the parks from morning until night, you may have very little opportunity to enjoy what you’re paying for. But if you prefer a slower vacation with resort time built into your itinerary, Club Level can add another layer to the Deluxe experience.

Exceptional Dining Without Leaving Your Resort

One of my favorite advantages of staying at a Deluxe Resort is having some of Walt Disney World’s most memorable dining experiences just steps from your room.

You don’t necessarily have to spend an evening inside a theme park to enjoy an exceptional meal.

California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort

Located on the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, California Grill combines market-inspired cuisine with sweeping views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom.

One of the highlights is the restaurant’s view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. During the show, the restaurant lights dim and the music is played inside, creating one of Walt Disney World’s most memorable fireworks dining experiences.

Victoria & Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

For an entirely different experience, Victoria & Albert’s offers one of the most sophisticated dining experiences at Walt Disney World.

The restaurant has held a MICHELIN Star since 2024, has received the AAA Five Diamond Award every year since 2000, and has earned the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award since 2018. Its ever-evolving tasting menu showcases contemporary American cuisine using ingredients and influences from around the world.

For an especially intimate experience, the Chef’s Table places guests close to the culinary team for an approximately four-hour dining experience.

Character Dining at Disney Deluxe Resorts

For families eager to dine with beloved Disney characters, enchanting Character Meals are available at many Disney Deluxe Resorts and Villas.

These meals, offered at select restaurants for breakfast and dinner, require reservations but offer flexibility in meal style, whether à la carte, prix fixe, or buffet.

While character interactions may vary, many meals feature appearances by Mickey and friends, dressed in themed attire that complements the restaurant’s ambiance.

For a chance to meet more rare characters, schedule breakfast at ‘Ohana at the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to encounter Lilo and Stitch or enjoy dinner at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Story Book Dining at Artist Point, where Snow White, some of the seven dwarves, and even the Evil Queen make appearances.

More Time in the Theme Parks

Location and amenities aren’t the only reasons families choose Deluxe.

One of the most valuable Disney Deluxe Resort benefits is additional access to the theme parks.

Early Theme Park Entry

Registered guests of Disney Resort hotels can enter Walt Disney World theme parks 30 minutes before the scheduled opening time each day through Early Theme Park Entry.

This isn’t exclusive to Deluxe Resorts, but it is still an important benefit of staying within the Disney Resorts Collection.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours

This is where Deluxe Resorts have an important advantage.

Registered guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts, as well as certain other select hotels, can enjoy Extended Evening Theme Park Hours on select nights at select theme parks.

Extended Evening Hours can provide additional time to enjoy select attractions, shops, and experiences after regular park operating hours.

Rather than assuming you’ll receive exactly two additional hours every night, however, check Disney’s current Hours & Events Calendar for the dates and parks available during your vacation because schedules and participating parks vary.

For families who love spending time in the parks, this can be one of the strongest reasons to consider upgrading to Deluxe.

Deluxe Resorts Can Make Midday Breaks Much Easier

This is a benefit that doesn’t always receive enough attention.

Walt Disney World vacations can be exhausting.

Florida heat, early mornings, late evenings, miles of walking, and full theme park days can catch up with even the most enthusiastic Disney family.

Staying at a conveniently located Deluxe Resort can make it much easier to build a break into your day.

Instead of feeling like leaving the park means ending your day, you may be able to return to your resort, enjoy the pool, relax in your room, have lunch, or let younger children nap before heading back out for the evening.

For some families, that convenience is the luxury.

It’s not necessarily about a grand lobby or a larger room. It’s about making an already busy vacation feel easier.

Are Disney Deluxe Resorts Worth It?

The answer depends entirely on how you plan to experience Walt Disney World.

A Deluxe Resort is definitely worth the investment if you value convenient park access, resort time, elevated dining, additional amenities, distinctive theming, or access to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours.

If you envision afternoon pool breaks, resort dining, convenient transportation, slower mornings, or simply enjoying the resort itself as part of your vacation, the additional investment can have a much greater impact.

That’s why choosing among the best Disney Deluxe Resorts shouldn’t begin with asking which one is the “best.”

It should begin with asking:

Which resort is best for the way your family wants to experience Walt Disney World?
